After a long pause and a series of cancelled events, it is our great pleasure to invite you all to the spring edition of the curling bonspiel Ljubljana Open 2021. Yes, you’ve read it correctly, the event will take place from 28 to 30 May 2021 in Ljubljana and we welcome teams from all over the world.

We are all extremely excited to wipe off the dust from our curling shoes and warm up our brooms. But the safety and health of all curlers, volunteers and involved individuals are our absolute priority. Here is some important information regarding this year’s event:

What will be the health and safety protocols on and off the ice?
The tournament will be organized under the national restrictions and rules of the Government, the guidelines of the National Health Institute and the official health protocol of the Slovenian curling association. In general, this means obligatory masks in all indoor spaces (but not on the ice while playing); no handshakes; special attention to hygiene and obligatory hand disinfecting; maintaining the social distance of 1,5 meters at all times and restricted indoors and outdoors gatherings.

Furthermore, all individuals participating in the event will undergo a free rapid test, provided at the spot by the organizer before the event. A negative test is a requirement by our national restrictions to participate in the event. There is an exception to this rule for everyone that has already been vaccinated or has recovered from the Covid-19 no later than 6 months ago, please contact us for further information on these exceptions.

Some specifics of the event still depend on the governmental measures in place at the time of the event. If the epidemiological situation and restrictions allow us, we will try to organize safe outdoors social events during the tournament, but no indoor banquet will be organized.

Can I even come to Slovenia? What are the current travel restrictions?

Is this even fun?
Of course. Regardless of the restrictions, we still guarantee you to play minimum of four games on the top-quality ice in the summer atmosphere of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The surroundings of the hall offer enough outside spaces for safe gatherings respecting the social distancing rules. Slovenian food is still delicious, we have not run out of beer and wine and people are still as friendly as they were.

The participation fee for this tournament is 200 € per team.
